What does good governance exactly mean? Should it be promoted in order to enhance democracy? Or to create markets? Should we look only at formal institutions or also at civil society? Beyond the technical definitions lies a much more complex political debate, involving notions that are usually not considered by politicians and policy makers.

Die Montage großskaliger Produkte ist von einer hohen Störanfälligkeit geprägt. Um die Dauer eines Montagestillstandes zu verkürzen, haben das WZL der RWTH Aachen und das IPH Hannover gemeinsam eine Methode entwickelt, welche die Identifikation von Montageplanalternativen und deren Bewertung anhand der logistischen Zielgrößen im Störungsfall ermöglicht. Bestand, Auslastung, Durchlaufzeit und Termintreue werden in Kosten überführt und Montagepläne somit mittels einer Größe vergleichbar.
 
Assembling large-scale products involves frequent process interruptions. To reduce the duration of an assembly stop, the WZL of RWTH Aachen University and the IPH Hannover developed an approach which is able to identify alternative assembly plans and to evaluate them on the basis of the logistic performance objectives. Stock, capacity utilization, lead time and adherence to schedule are transferred into costs and assembly plans are thus comparable based on one parameter.
